We are looking for a Work Health & Safety Officer to join our Costa Avocado & Banana team in FNQ. This role will report to the National HR & Safety Manager.
About the Role
This role is responsible for partnering with the business to provide support, coordination and administration across a range of WHS activities to support the FNQ Avocado & Banana operations. This role works very closely with the broader WHS team.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to
- Support and coordinate the implementation of group WHS strategies, policies, processes, programs, systems and training.
- Support managers with regular safety communication/training/Toolbox Talks and record keeping.
- Support managers in reporting and investigation of hazards, incidents and near misses and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Improve safety performance – reviewing incident reporting and ensuring incidents are investigated and root causes identified to ensure adequate actions are identified to prevent re-occurrence.
- Support Manager with injury management and return to work programs.
- Support Manager with work cover claims.
- Support Managers with regular site visits, safety inspection/audits.
- Monthly KPI reporting.
- Ensure sites are meeting legal compliance that includes training requirements.
- Ensure compliance and promotion of OHS policies & procedures.
- Coordination of sites WHS committees and meetings.
- Maintain and monitor Safety Management System information.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Exposure to WHS processing functions.
- Proven ability to show self-initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to drive a strong safety culture across the organisation.
- Knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory requirements is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of workers compensation and RTW is desirable but not essential.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
