Quality Assurance and Safety Coordinator - Tasmania

About the Role
Costa's Berry Category is searching for an enthusiastic and motivated Quality Assurance & Safety Coordinator to support our Tasmania team during the 2026/2027 Harvest Season. Working in a casual capacity from November 2026 to April 2027,
Reporting to the National Quality Assurance & Safety Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting our food safety and WHS programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and legislation, and fostering a positive quality and safety culture across multiple sites.
As the Quality Assurance & Safety Coordinator, you will provide practical support and guidance across food safety and WHS functions while working closely with harvest, post-harvest, and operational teams. This is a diverse and hands-on role that combines compliance, training, auditing, investigation, and continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Quality
- Maintain and continuously improve food safety systems and documentation.
- Conduct internal audits and manage audit findings and corrective actions.
- Support compliance with GlobalG.A.P, Freshcare, HARPS, HACCP and other food safety standards.
- Investigate incidents, hazards and non-conformances, completing root cause analysis.
- Manage internal audit, testing, sampling, retention and calibration schedules.
- Support HACCP and prerequisite program implementation and review.
- Deliver food safety training and awareness programs across the business.
- Assist with product quality monitoring and customer rejection investigations.
Workplace Health & Safety
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of the Safety Management System.
- Conduct workplace inspections and facilitate corrective actions.
- Coordinate incident reporting, investigations and hazard management.
- Deliver safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
- Assist with workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work processes.
- Develop and review Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) with operational teams.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide practical safety guidance.
- Promote safe work practices and a positive safety culture.
About You
You are an organised, detail-focused professional who enjoys working with people and influencing positive outcomes. You can build strong relationships, communicate effectively at all levels, and confidently manage competing priorities.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, WHS or a related field.
- Understanding of HACCP principles and quality management systems.
- Experience conducting audits and driving corrective actions.
- Strong administration, reporting and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability.
Desirable
- HACCP, Internal Auditing or other Food Safety qualifications.
- WHS qualifications or experience.
- Workers compensation and return-to-work coordination experience.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience using systems such as Skytrust, SharePoint or similar compliance platforms.
- Knowledge of GlobalG.A.P, Freshcare and HARPS standards.
