Pack Shed Assistant - Corindi

All the products we grow, and sell are fresh, nutritious, unprocessed, and grown on our very own farms or those of our partner growers
In this role you will be responsible for the supervision of post-harvest operations, by ensuring the fruit is packed, cooled and stored within benchmark times to maximise quality, yield and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimise Packing
Operations:
Oversee and prioritise the efficiency of pack lines, staff, and pack shed procedures—from unloading through to dispatch—to ensure maximum product quality and yield. - Continuous Improvement:
Develop and implement procedures aligned with WHS (Work Health and Safety) and QA (Quality Assurance) specifications. - Performance Tracking:
Monitor, track, and report on packing performance and wastage, using data to drive improvements. - Team Management:
Provide leadership, support, and performance management for pack shed employees. - Compliance & Safety:
Ensure all WHS and QA standards are consistently met across all post-harvest operations. - Equipment Maintenance:
Conduct basic servicing of pack line equipment, with technical support as needed. - Real-Time Monitoring:
Monitor pack line operations and employee performance continuously during production shifts. - Communication &
Coordination:
Maintain regular communication with the Harvest Manager regarding fruit quality, availability, and operational timelines. - Inventory & Dispatch
Management:
Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly analysis of dispatches, stock-on-hand, and inventory control. - Customer Fulfilment:
Coordinate dispatch and truck loading in accordance with customer requirements and documentation standards.
About You
You are a hands-on leader with a strong understanding of post-harvest operations and a genuine interest in the horticulture and fresh produce industry. You thrive in fast-paced environments, can lead diverse teams effectively, and have a keen eye for quality and operational efficiency.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in fruit dispatch/warehouse operations – desirable, but not essential for the right candidate - this is not a fruit packing role
- Working knowledge of cool room and temperature-controlled storage management
- A passion for or experience in the horticulture and fresh produce industry
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams to achieve targets
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate well to people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
- A strong understanding of and commitment to compliance, food safety, and quality assurance standards
- Highly developed planning and organisational abilities – capable of managing priorities and taking responsibility for outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- A current and valid driver’s licence
What You Get In Return
This is a casual position, however those that are able to contribute positively to the team may have the opportunity to move to other roles on the farm as Costa continues to grow and expand its operations at the end of the busy harvest season.
How Will You Get Paid?
- You will be paid an hourly rate in accordance with the role you will be undertaking.
- Your hourly rate will be determined by the Costa Berries Enterprise Agreement with pay rates higher than the Horticulture Award
- Weekly pay every Thursday by Bank transfer
- Payslips are emailed at the same time to your nominated email address
- Superannuation is paid in line with legislation
