Opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to join our Dunorlan Blackberry farm as an irrigator. As the newest member of our dynamic teams you will gain hands on experience with the latest irrigation systems. This is an exciting entry level role with full on the job training provided.
About the role:
As an irrigator you will be responsible for the operation of irrigation systems in substrate and soil grown berry blocks. The role will involve the following:
- Work closely with experienced team members to monitor plant water use and manage irrigation scheduling to meet targets.
- Learn the ropes of operating computer programming required to meeting the daily irrigation schedule.
- Ensure optimal operation of irrigation systems to maximise the crop yield.
- Carry out preventative maintenance to repair irrigation pumps, pipeworks and fittings as well as clean, repair and maintain filter sets.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will need to be:
- Physically fit and capable of engaging in moderate levels of activity, including regular walking, lifting (up to 25Kg fertiliser bags), bending and reaching.
- A Current driver’s licence as Costa cannot offer transport or accommodation.
- An interest in agriculture or horticulture or be mechanically minded.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised and be able to follow direction.
