Horticulture Manager - Laos

The Berry International Division comprises of establishe berry farming in Morocco (product exported to Europe, UK and Asia) and China (product sold in China). Additionally, Costa is currently expanding blueberry growing operations into Laos. Also licensing of our proprietary blueberry varieties across several regions, including the Americas and Africa.

We are seeking a skilled Horticulture Manager with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience to join our expanding team in Laos. If you have a background in berry cultivation, that’s a plus!

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated horticulture professional to play a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of our Laos business.

About the opportunity:

We are currently seeking an experienced horticulture manager to join the expanding leadership team in Laos. This role will be located in Laos, preferably on a permanent basis however assignments of 2 years or more will be considered.

This dynamic and busy role will lead all horticultural activities on site, including in the areas of irrigation, nutrition, pest and disease and canopy management. The horticulture manager will be responsible for setting and achieve the horticulture strategy for the region as well as supporting with the management of daily activities. A key element of this role will be developing other horticulturists on site so that the Laos team continues to build in strength.

This role is varied and presents an opportunity for the right person to contribute to the ongoing growth of the business. Relocation cost support is subject to negotiation.

About the role:

Key responsibilities of the role include;

  • Lead horticulture team on site in areas of irrigation, nutrition, pest and disease and canopy management
  • Address key challenges with a sense of urgency
  • Support and collaborate with the operations and productions teams to execute farming best management practices
  • Drive the horticulture strategy plan for the site
  • Foster knowledge exchange and contribute to the success of the horticultural operation.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have strong horticulture knowledge and the ability to diagnose and resolve crop challenges.

In addition, you should have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in horticulture farming operations.
  • Experience in berry horticulture (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to adapt to new environments and work as part of a diverse team.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching and sharing knowledge.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office packages
  • Strong initiative and a drive to complete tasks and follow through on commitments
  • The ability to question standard practices
  • Exceptional attention to detail

Assignment Details:

  • Location: Paksong, Laos.
  • Duration: Preferably permanent, but assignments of 2 years and longer will be considered.
  • Relocation support will be negotiated depending on individual circumstances
