About the Role:

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Horticultural Specialist to join our team! In this role, you'll play a key role in the success of our Blueberry and Rubus (raspberry and blackberry) crops, working alongside the Regional Manager to ensure optimal production and growth. The role is located in Corindi, New South Wales (just north of the coastal town of Coffs Harbour).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empowering your team: Resourcing, training, and directing your team to effectively oversee all farming activities.
  • Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement: Fostering a culture within your team that prioritizes learning and implementing new knowledge to consistently improve agronomic management practices year after year.
  • Proactive crop management: Anticipating how crops will respond to changing weather conditions to minimize pest and disease issues while optimizing nutrient delivery.
  • Strategic planning: Taking part in annual crop planning activities to maximize farm profitability and support the development of operational budgets.
  • Production forecasting: Providing harvest teams with medium- and long-term production forecasts.
  • Senior leadership: Working collaboratively with the senior leadership team to implement strategies and achieve regional performance goals.
  • Cost-conscious best practices: Balancing cost management with a commitment to upholding best practices across all operations.

Skills and Experience

You will be a collaborative, persistent, and credible leader with a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in a managerial role. In addition, you will:

  • Master Complexity: Analyse complex data sets, identify root causes of issues impacting crop health, and develop solutions that address multiple factors affecting farm operations.
  • Optimize Processes: Implement and maintain efficient agronomic practices, use data to identify areas for improvement, and troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns in farm processes.
  • Communicate Confidently: Tailor your communication to effectively engage with diverse audiences, clearly convey complex agronomic information, and actively listen to concerns from team members and stakeholders.
  • Accountability Leader: Hold yourself and your team accountable for achieving production goals, manage projects effectively, and deliver on deadlines.
  • Commercial Acumen: Applies understanding of the business environment and objectives to develop solutions without supervision, while also providing technical assistance when necessary.
