Horticultural Manager – Berry International

Costa is a global leading grower, packer and marketer of premium quality fresh produce with farming operations across three continents. We nurture our people, cultivate our growing sites and invest in ongoing research and development.

We are currently looking for a Horticultural Manager to provide technical and horticultural expertise to our international berry business. The Berry International horticultural team supports the horticultural requirements of our berry growing operations in Australia, China and Morocco, as well as our global network of licensed growers of our proprietary blueberry varieties. 


The Horticultural Manager will possess exceptional communication and influencing skills and will be required to implement leading edge horticultural knowledge and techniques which will be deployed internationally on farm, in various cultural and geographical environments.

Key capabilities of the role: 

  • Provide technical support and delivery of agronomic and horticultural programs to support Costa International growers’ success
  • Promote integration of preharvest (horticulture) and post-harvest management to ensure high performance is realised with respect to yield and quality outcomes.
  • Adopts a high-performance mindset towards research and development which will be a driver for continuous improvement of horticultural processes and performance.
  • Effective support of knowledge transfer to our grower base, and strong participation in training programs to facilitate improved horticultural performance over time
  • Manage positive relationships with partners, customers, and stakeholders


The successful candidate needs to be able to demonstrate high levels of commitment and performance and will have;

  • Tertiary training in horticulture field/discipline or a closely related field is essential
  • Postgraduate or extensive experience within the industry is highly valued.
  • Global mindset with the ability to adapt to different cultures

In addition, we are looking for candidates with the following;

  • Expert knowledge in the discipline of horticulture and a proven track record of managing technical projects within the horticulture sector
  • Experience in the field of applied research and a passion for innovation
