General Farm Hands - Childers
We are looking for two General Farm Hands to join our Costa Avocados team in Childers, QLD.
About the Role:
These roles are hands-on roles and will operate farm implements, tractors and spraying units, for the application of sprays, fertiliser programs and general farm maintenance work as required. This role will support the Farm Operations Manager to achieve horticultural objectives on farm.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Be proactive with safety and reporting.
- Work closely with the agronomy and farm teams to ensure growing programs are carried out to plan
- Operating farm equipment like tractors, slashers, spray units
- Keep accurate and up to date farm records
- Handling chemicals
- Slashing, Mulching, Irrigation
- Irrigation repairs where required
- Other general farm tasks as directed
About You:
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 2-5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Problem solving skills
- Strong focus on achieving results
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people
- Solid grounding in safety and quality principles
- Good time management skills
- Good communication skills
- Current driver’s license
- Chemical accreditation certificate (e.g. chemcert or other) is desirable
- Experience in the operation of farm machinery is essential
- Experience in irrigation is highly desireable for one of these roles
