General Farm Hand

We are looking for a General Farm Hand to join our Costa Banana team in Walkamin QLD.
About the Role
This role is a hands-on role and will operate farm implements, tractors and spraying units, for the application of sprays, fertiliser programs and general farm maintenance work as required. This role will support the Farm Supervisor to achieve horticultural objectives on farm.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Be proactive with safety and reporting.
- Work closely with the Agronomy and farm team to ensure sprays and fertiliser programs are carried out within the desired time frame and at the correct application rate
- Keep accurate and up to date farm records on established templates.
- Air blaster to apply fungicide, nutrient and insecticide sprays at the desired volume for particular orchards
- Herbicide spray vats to apply herbicide according to desired rates including spot sprays
- Be capable of calibrating all farm machinery to ensure desired application rates are met
- Slashing, Mulching, Irrigation
- Irrigation repairs where required
- Other general farm tasks as required from time to time
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 2-5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Experience in operation of farm machinery is essential.
- Problem solving skills
- Strong focus on achieving results
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people
- Solid grounding OHS&W principles
- Good time management skills
- Good communication skills
- Current driver’s license
- Chemical accreditation certificate (e.g. chemcert or other) (desired)
