Field Harvest Coordinator/Canopy Management Supervisor- Berries FNQ


Costa Berries FNQ are currently seeking a Field Harvest Coordinator/Canopy Management Supervisor for our upcoming 2020 Harvest.

This role is responsible for the coordination of Field Harvest activities during our 8 month harvest season, and 4 month Canopy Management activities during the off season.

Field Harvest Coordinator (FHC)- Key Accountabilities 

  • Support Field Harvest Manager (FHM) in developing and maintaining a block picking plan
  • Support Field Harvest Supervisors in planning their picking order and direct crews to appropriate blocks
  • Support FHM in producing accurate projections of fruit yield on a daily, weekly and longer term basis, together with accurate figures on picking rates to enable KPI’s to be effectively monitored
  • With the FHM, provide supervision to the Harvest Support team, monitor performance and provide feedback for improvement where needed
  • Ensure appropriate resources are available for harvest crews
  • Provide short term people and equipment resourcing plans
  • Support the FHM in establishing and maintaining required number of crews in line with fruit volumes and picking plans
  • Act as a point of contact for queries from Field Harvest Supervisors and Crews
  • Maintain an awareness of departmental budgets and performance against budget
  • Maintain an awareness of departmental KPI’s and the need to drive down costs and improve performance
  • Monitor quality performance of teams
  • Ensure quality management systems are adhered to and appropriate paperwork is completed
  • Support the FHM in providing detailed feedback to the Horticultural team on blocks, varieties and trials to enable better crop performance
Canopy Management Supervisor (CMS)- Key Accountabilities 
  • In collaboration with the Horticultural and Operations Department, develop and implement Canopy Management schedule
  • Provide supervision to the canopy management team, monitor performance and provide feedback for improvement where needed
  • Ensure appropriate resources are available for canopy management team
  • Provide short term people and equipment resourcing plans
  • Maintain an awareness of departmental budgets and performance against budget
  • Maintain an awareness of departmental KPI’s and the need to drive down costs and improve performance
  • Monitor quality performance of teams
  • Ensure quality standards are adhered to and appropriate paperwork is completed

To be successful in these roles, you will have:
  • Experience of supervising a large team (>200 people), including crew supervisors
  • Experience of working in a horticultural environment
  • Ability to make decisions independently
  • Ability to understand KPI figures and budget figures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to plan ahead
  • Seek efficiencies, develop and implement continuous improvement strategies
  • Preferably current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to complete
  • Current driving licence
Qualifications 
  • Diploma or Certificate in agricultural/horticultural studies (desired)
  • Drivers Licence
