Seasonal Worker Program Coordinator
Seasonal Worker Program Coordinator
We’re Costa. Australia’s leading grower, packer and marketer of premium quality fresh fruit and vegetables. On the land, in distribution centres, and out on the roads – Costa people work hard to bring the freshest produce to tables across Australia. But joining our team is about more than just hard work. It’s about picking a meaningful, sustainable job that’s good for you, and for Australia.
The role
Reporting to the Divisional Manager, the Seasonal Worker Program Coordinator will be responsible for partnering with Costa’s Sunraysia (VIC/NSW) farming and packhouse managers to forecast the region's seasonal worker labour requirements and ensure sites are appropriately staffed to meet operational needs. This role will have direct accountability for the recruitment, induction, ongoing training, work performance and wellbeing of seasonal workers with an emphasis on improving safety behaviours, knowledge of fruit quality and meeting productivity targets throughout successive harvest seasons.
The Seasonal worker Program Coordinator will work closely with Costa’s broader Pacific labour Team and other corporate support functions including HR, Finance and Procurement to meet legislative and corporate governance requirements. This is not a typical 9-5 role as issues that need addressing outside of normal working hours must be managed in a responsive manner to ensure worker safety and wellbeing. In addition, regular intra/interstate travel to accompany or pick up workers to/from airports, hospitals and other facilities will be required so the willingness to be flexible regarding work hours is essential.
What you’ll be doing:
- Plan and implement source Country recruitment processes ensuring compliance with Commonwealth Government requirements for the sourcing of Pacific Australian Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme worker cohorts.
- Co-ordination of on-site and off-site accommodation and transport arrangements including weekly inspections to ensure worker housing and vehicles are safe and fit for purpose.
- Develop and deliver arrival/departure briefings, induction programs and site-based training to assist worker integration in Country and assigned workplaces.
- Act as an escalation point for Manager and Supervisor queries and concerns regarding workers’ daily attendance/absenteeism, fitness to work, productivity and wellbeing.
- Create and update entries into the Government Portal regarding Seasonal Workers inbound and outbound travel, training, health, absconding and other worker incidents, as required.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment or other workforce coordination process, preferably in agriculture.
- Working knowledge of safety legislation and food quality standards.
- Ability to build trust relationships with a diverse workforce of multiple nationalities and cultures where English is often a second language.
- Advanced organisational and planning skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and manage compliance and company policy requirements.
- High level verbal and written skills including public speaking, delivery of training programs and maintenance of worker records, case notes and compliance related reports.
