Costa is seeking an Operations Coordinator to oversee our testing trials at the Corindi Berry site. This role is crucial in managing trial operations, coordinating with various teams, and ensuring the successful execution of our plant trials.

Role Overview

As the Operations Coordinator, you will be instrumental in managing the day-to-day operations of our trial blocks at the Corindi Berry site. You will coordinate pre- and post-planting activities, liaise with harvest and pest management teams, and ensure accurate data collection and reporting. This role requires strong organisational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Trial Operations: Oversee the management of trial blocks, including soil and substrate preparation, plant and material inventory, and field mapping.
  • Collaborate with teams: Work with farm operations, harvest, and pest management teams to ensure smooth pre- and post-planting activities.
  • Data Management: Coordinate with lab technicians and breeders to accurately record and report on fruit quality traits and other key metrics.
  • Maintain Supplies: Manage supply stock and ensure timely delivery of plant numbers.
  • Support Breeding Programs: Assist with planting trials and liaise with strategic partners and customers of the Costa Variety Improvement Program (VIP).

Skills and Experience

  • Education: Degree in plant science, horticulture, or a related field, or relevant experience in research trials (minimum 3 years).
  • Project Management: Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with a proven track record in managing technical projects.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and undertake domestic travel as required.
  • Cultural Awareness: Ability to adapt communication and leadership styles to different cultural settings.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with diverse teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
