An exciting opportunity exists for someone seeking job security and long-term career prospects in Australia’s largest horticulture company. Whilst previous irrigation experience is preferred, Costa encourages motivated and physically fit self-starters to join experienced farm teams in the Riverland region of South Australia to be trained as an Irrigation Technician.

The role is primarily responsible for ensuring onsite water infrastructure is correctly monitored, repaired and maintained to meet the farm’s irrigation requirements. Flexibility to work early starts and weekends if required to meet seasonal and operational requirements is essential.

The role will report to the Farm Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement water and fertigation plans to meet seasonal requirements.
  • Clean, repair and maintain sprinkler and drip irrigation including drip lines, filters, valves and pumps.
  • Check that irrigation has gone as scheduled and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Mix and distribute fertilisers and accurately record fertiliser usage.
  • General farm work if required.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience working in a similar role is preferred.
  • Ability to learn about soils and irrigation.
  • Problem solving skills to identify and resolve irrigation issues, with supervision.
  • Literacy and numeracy skills to maintain accurate irrigation records.
  • Basic computer skills to assess electronic soil moisture probe data.
