About the opportunity:

We are currently seeking an experienced and high-performing person for the position of Data Scientist - Berries. This role will report to the Transformation Manager – Berry Category and is responsible for assisting the business in making key decisions through the use of data modelling. This role is based in Woolgoolga, on the beautiful NSW mid-north coast.

This exciting role will work within the berries transformation team, supporting with key projects to maximise business productivity and performance. It will have interaction with all elements of the berry business in Australia and will be critical in ensuring that we learn from our data and assess the impact of decisions appropriately.

 About the role:

The Data Scientist - Berries will have the key following accountabilities;

Advanced and Predictive Analytics - Run advanced and predictive analyses and perform model assessments, validation, and enhancement activities, using predictive analytics' software tools and functionalities.

Data and Analytics Strategy - Make recommendations to improve data and analytics systems and platforms, contributing to the continuous improvement and refinement of data and analytics strategy.

Performance Improvement through Business Intelligence - Support creation of machine learning algorithms by applying standard statistical analysis or data preparation methods.

Data Architecture - Consult and educate stakeholders on methods for streamlining and

standardizing data recording to ensure quality and accuracy.

Data Collection and Analysis - Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.

Stakeholder engagement for business requirements - Support collection of business requirements using a variety of methods, such as interviews, document analysis, and workflow analysis, to express requirements clearly and succinctly.

Insights and Reporting - Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have significant experience in a similar role within a large multi-site business. You will be competent in understanding business needs and developing methods to support those needs.

 In addition, you should have:

  • Experience using statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modelling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc
  • Experience managing projects including setting up project timelines, assessing milestone achievements and reporting on progress externally
  • Skills to communicate effectively with a range of people in the business
  • The ability to make sound decisions and influence stakeholders
  • Skills to coach others around you and share knowledge
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

The role will support all of our domestic berry sites, therefore the ability to travel is preferred.
