Assistant Farm Manager
Costa is Australia's largest producer, marketer and exporter of premium quality fresh fruit and vegetables and provides leading edge logistics and supply chain solutions to the FMCG and Retail sectors.
We are seeking applications for the position of Assistant Farm Manager.
The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for the scheduling and maintenance of the irrigation and fertigation on a 100 hectare citrus farm at Lindsay Point, located in the vicinity of Renmark, South Australia. There will also be a requirement to supervise farming operations and complete tasks assigned by the Farm Manager.
This challenging and varied role will suit a self-motivated individual who has at least 5 years demonstrable farm experience obtained from previous assignments in the horticultural sector. This role is the perfect pathway for developing farm management skills that could lead the incumbent into a more senior role within 2-3 years.
Experience and knowledge of irrigation scheduling and the operation of modern irrigation systems are key requirements. Other essentials include: good communication and relationship building skills; strong organisational skills and the ability to supervise staff; basic computer skills; and the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. Motorola Irrinet experience would be advantageous. Citrus experience is not essential. A strong focus and commitment to Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety and Quality is a key requirement.
It is preferred that the incumbent will live on farm in company housing. A fully maintained motor vehicle will also be provided.
